Everything there is to know about DNS: What is Domain Name System?
The Domain Name System (DNS) protocol is an important part of the web's infrastructure, serving as the Internet's phone book: every time you visit a website, your computer performs a DNS lookup.
Overview.
Complex pages often require multiple DNS lookups before they start loading, so your computer may be performing hundreds of lookups a day.
- URL (www.scellus.com) = name of who you want to call
- DNS server = phone book
- IP address = phone number
IP addresses identify computers on the internet like phone numbers do in telephone networks. Each internet provider gets a large number of IP addresses from the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority. You get one of your provider's IP addresses when your computer establishes a connection to your provider.
To communicate with Scellus' web servers, your computer will need to know the server's IP address. To get it, it asks a DNS server to look up the IP address of "www.scellus.com". For this to work, your computer has to know the IP address of at least one DNS server. Usually it automatically gets one from your provider, but you can also configure your operating system to use a specific DNS server. From here, the DNS server will reply with the IP address for scellus.com, and that's how DNS server works in a nutshell.
DNS types & records.
Every DNS record has a type. This type defines what the content of the record means. For example, a DNS record of type MX contains the location of a mail exchange server. All the record types are strictly defined in so-called RFCs (request for comments). Since the beginning of the domain name system, a lot of new record types have been added. Some record types have also been declared obsolete, because they have been replaced by a newer record type.

Common DNS types.
There are many different types of DNS record in existence. Most of them are used only occasionally. Only a couple record types are used very frequently.
These are the most commonly used DNS record types:
- A — IPv4 address
- AAAA — IPv6 address
- CNAME — Canonical name
- MX — Mail exchange
- NS — Name server
- TXT — Human-readable text

With a month to go until the Tokyo Olympics and a state of emergency freshly lifted in most of the country, Japan is seeing relatively low coronavirus case counts after a surge last month. But the country’s low vaccination rate, especially compared with other rich countries, and variants on the rise there have prompted some public health experts in recent weeks to express concerns about the Games or call for them to be canceled.

11 fun facts about coffee
Coffee is awesome. You know it would be impossible to start your day without a cup of it. Here are some fun facts about your favorite caffeinated beverage.
1. World's first webcam watched a coffee pot.
Though it was hardly what one might described as “action-packed,” it allowed researchers at Cambridge to monitor the coffee situation in the Trojan Room without ever leaving their desks. After the webcam portion of the Trojan Room coffee pot experiment was pulled, the pot itself — a non-working Krups ProAroma pot that would normally retail for about $50 — was put up for auction on eBay, where it sold for just under $5,000.
2. What happens to caffeine in decaf coffee?
After coffee beans are decaffeinated, several coffee manufacturers sell the caffeine to soda and pharmaceutical companies.

3. Keep your coffee warmer longer by adding cream.
Viscosity versus evaporation. Adding cream thickens the coffee increasing its viscosity thus, making it evaporates slower. You'd be surprised just how much heat evaporation carries away. Slow the rate of evaporation and you avoid a lot of that heat loss. (This is also one big reason that coffee stays warm longer with a lid on the cup.)

4. 42 beans.
A single-shot espresso requires approximately 42 coffee beans, which is the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything.
5. Es-pres-so.
Espresso comes from the Italian name for the coffee, in full caffè espresso, literally "pressed-out coffee". Wikipedia explains:
Espresso (/ɛˈspɹɛsəʊ/ /eˈspresō/) is coffee brewed by forcing a small amount of nearly boiling water under pressure through finely ground coffee beans.
6. Coffee was food. Coffee is food.
Before people learned how to brew coffee, east African tribes mixed coffee berries with animal fat and consumed it as food. In today's world, there are still tons of great ways to cook with coffee. From tiramisu to salad, here are some interesting food that you can make with coffee.
7. Second most popular drink in the entire world.
Coffee is the second most consumed beverage in the world. What's first?
8. Drip vs. Espresso. Which is stronger?
When it comes to caffeine content ounce by ounce, espresso wins with about 40 milligrams per ounce versus 10 milligrams per ounce in a brewed cup of coffee. However, the serving size tips the scale. A two-ounce double shot of espresso contains 80 milligrams of caffeine whilst a 12-ounce cup of brewed coffee has about 120 milligrams.
9. Coffee "beans" are actually seeds.
They may look like beans, but what is actually brewed are the processed and roasted seeds of coffee cherries — a fruit.
10. 140 litres per cup.
That’s about half a bathtub, and no, it doesn’t all go into the coffee cup. Rather, you need 140 litres of water to grow enough beans to produce one cup of coffee.
11. Coffee is mildly addictive but caffeine is not.
When test subjects abstained from coffee, drank it regularly for 12 days, and then stopped, they experienced "withdrawal effects," but those effect were "moderate and transient," i.e. no big deal. However, when the test subjects were gradually weaned from caffeinated to decaffeinated coffee, they didn't drink more coffee in order to replace the caffeine. Therefore, it is the coffee rather than caffeine that is mildly addictive. So there.
#. Summary.
Wow, you have reached the end of the articles. You should now know 10 additional facts about coffee that you might have not known before. We whipped up this article to test the blog post layout template for our new website, scellus.com.
While consistently creating content is a crucial part of making sure you’re educating your audience, simply having good content is not enough. You will need to make sure that your audience can find and digest the content.
Here are some features that we implemented for this post:
- Beautiful, large, high-quality featured images. As blogging becomes more prominent and social media becomes more visual, one of the most effective and differentiating things you can do for your blog is incorporating large, non-stocky hero images.
- Legible typography. Not all people coming to your website have 20/20 vision, and those who do still don’t want to read your 12pt font. It can cause eye strain, especially on digital screens.
- Short descriptive subheadings. Typically, people are coming to blog articles with the intent of skimming them until they find the section(s) that answers their questions or pique their interest.
- Accessible social sharing. Social sharing links (aka buttons that let people easily post your article to their social media profiles) are one of the easiest ways to encourage people to distribute your content for you, but many sites aren't granting that same experience for tablet and mobile users.

IT Services vs. IT Consulting
For an industry built on specifications, technical terminology can be surprisingly vague. Business IT consulting, IT services, and software consulting, for instance, may appear distinct and self-explanatory at first glance. In truth, it can be difficult to tell where one ends and another begins.
Overview.
According to Wikipedia, information technology consulting (also called IT consulting, computer consultancy, business and technology services, computing consultancy, technology consulting, and IT advisory) as a field of activity focuses on advising organizations on how best to use information technology (IT) in achieving their business objectives.
Technology is a driving force of progress in every sector. Business is the field where IT can contribute to achieving striking goals. But, it may be challenging to build a digital transformation strategy. This is a moment when IT consulting comes to rescue. So, let’s get answers to the questions like what is IT consulting, what is IT consulting company, who are IT consultants and how to build a digital transformation plan for your business.
What is IT Consulting?
Information Technology is a broad sphere that involves computer programming, data, and analysis. Information Technology Consulting is an activity of advising on how to implement IT for a successful business objective achievement. The consulting can be given on any issue that involves IT, including:
- Information security
- Web development
- Computer network architecture
- Computer systems analysis
Information Technology is an integral part of business development, and IT consulting helps to bring innovations closer to the business for its successful transformation. What does IT consulting do? This service helps to evaluate various technology strategies and, then, to match them with the business strategies. This process includes building strategic, operational, architectural, and implementation plans. IT consulting provides services that help businesses to evaluate their IT needs and to form the plan of system implementation.
This includes advice on how to design a system that will be able to uphold competition and meet customer requirements. Also, IT consulting provides an assessment of operating efficiency and capacity of the company’s IT environment.
What is an IT Consulting company?
Usually, when you need any expertise or advice on your business, you hire a person from a consulting company. This is a third-party firm that provides services until the final solution of a particular issue. An IT consulting company offers service of assistance in problem-solving related to Information Technology.
The service provided by an IT consulting company is end-to-end and can range from consulting on one issue to system implementation and management advice. The process can be targeted at creating a new IT system or improving the existing one. The services IT consulting companies provide in general include:
- IT infrastructure planning
- IT security consulting
- IT Risk assessment analysis
- Disaster recovery planning
What's the job function of an IT Consultant?
An IT consultant’s job includes a diverse range of services. After reaching out to an IT consulting company, their consultant will typically hold a meeting with you to discuss your requirements and the issues you want to see solved and define the scope of the project. Then, if you decide to proceed with the cooperation, they will research your sites, meet with the staff to outline the software needs, and find a solution for the issues posed. Among the tasks of IT consultants is also training of your staff on the new system installment. Therefore, a consultant must possess high technical skills to provide this or another type of technical assistance.
IT consultants usually look for areas where improvement is possible in your business from a technological perspective. They can give a piece of advice on matters like which types of software and systems to choose, etc.
IT Service vs. IT Consulting.
As we defined before, IT Consulting provides ultimate guidance on everything regarding IT, from the IT strategy to the type of technology needed for the business environment. IT services are quite different from IT consulting as they include bespoke software development, management of data recovery, cloud services and security system creation and management.
IT services are usually outsourced from third-party IT companies, which helps save money and time. But, sometimes, it can be challenging to determine which IT services your business needs. In this case, hiring an IT consultant can help you to get an expert opinion on which service to outsource.
Often, IT outsourcing companies provide both. If that’s the case, you can hire a whole team to get services for your business that your staff is unable to carry out due to a lack of knowledge and training in the sphere.
How can IT Consulting hep my business?
There are many reasons why you need to hire an IT consultant. First of all, it can considerably cut your expenses and save you a great deal of time. When you hire an IT consultant from a third-party firm, you pay less for their services than you would pay your employees as, in this case, you don’t need to rent an office.
What is more, it’s a great idea to have an outside person to take a fresh look at your company. It may be a way to bring new ideas to your project and to look at the possible problem from a different angle.
Of course, the main benefit you get from hiring an IT consultant is the knowledge they possess. Usually, this is a person with a vast base of expertise in the field who has lots of experience in IT implementation for business. IT consulting services will also help you to focus solely on your business and don’t bother about the tech part.
Digital transformation plan.
A digital transformation plan is a strategic, long-term plan focusing on integrated digital media channels, implementation of new technologies, and smart, digital ways of working. The purpose of a digital transformation plan is to define how to compete more effectively with digital marketing.
If you think your business is ready to reap all the benefits provided by IT, an IT consultant can help analyze your organization’s culture, pain points and your future needs and implement processes to make that a success.
Do note that Digital transformation for business can be a long process and requires effort from employees of all levels. It's not a magic solution that will push you forward. For a successful implementation of these innovational changes, you need to take the following steps:
- Clearly define your values & goals. The initial plan for the IT adoption in your business is to ensure that senior management is committed to the plan and have put it on the agenda as one of the main goals. As far as the aims go, they should be clear in order to make the process more manageable, especially when your company encounters some difficulties during it. Also, you should secure investment for your digital technology implementation. It can require some budget spending, but the benefits are more significant.
- Change. Implement. Iterate. In order to get support from both employees and clients, you should start with a feasible project that offers the potential of significant return and manageable risk. After the start of the digital transformation process, you need to make sure that everyone in charge of it is a highly-skilled professional. What is more, you need to build a digital culture at your company and be sure that employees have adapted to these changes.
- New ways of working moving forward. After you’ve put effort into basic digital transformation steps, you may need to expand the project; the modernization can open up new areas for improvement which you’ll need to cover too. You’ll also need to boost your employees’ skills, ensure they adapt to a new operating model, and rethink the way they cooperate.
Summary.
In short, what is technology consulting? It’s an important part of your business adaptation to new technologies. An IT consultant is your guide through the world of tech possibilities and how they can make your business succeed on the market. It doesn’t matter whether your business is a large enterprise or just a start-up; the adoption of IT can bring you impressive results and cut your expenses significantly.
The cooperation with an IT consultant can be anything — from advising you on day-to-day IT operations to the creation of an entire digital transformation plan for your business — all depending on your needs. IT development & implementation offers a ton of possibilities for your business; IT consulting simply shows you how to benefit from it.

Page speed — Why speed matters
Back in 2018, Google announced that their updates for user improvements would now regard page speed as a factor for ranking higher in their search engine’s algorithm in order ‘To help users find the answers to their questions faster’.
Overview.
As you would expect, this update sent the SEO community into anarchy as everyone scrambled to fix the speed of their sites, something neglected in the past. But for beginners to the topic of page speed, let’s cover the key questions.
What is page speed?
Page speed is the amount of time that it takes for your website page to load for your user. The speed of your website pages will have a direct impact on where you sit on Google’s Search Engine Ranking Pages (SERPs), alongside other key factors such as an SEO-friendly site structure and domain authority.
How does Scellus increase page speed for websites?
Websites that use a CDN (content delivery network) load much more quickly. CDN caches content in 270 cities around the world to store content closer to end users. This reduces latency, because requests from user devices do not have to travel all the way to original servers, and as a result, load time is much lower.
We use CDNs like Cloudflare that are available on every continent in the globe. CDNs can be expensive to implement, but, we believe in deploying solutions highly focused on ROI to deliver optimum service with reasonable pricing.
Summary
- Page speed is important. Why? Because, Google ranks you higher when your site loads quickly.
- First, ensure your web hosting is fast. Don’t go the cheap route when choosing your website’s host provider, focus on their attention to page speed and user experience.
- Compress., Optimize, minimize, merge and reduce what you can, whether that be images, coding or redirects. This takes a great amount of strain off your page loading times and there are plenty of online tools and plugins to help.
- Cache. Enable site caching so your server uses fewer resources to load a web page improving your overall website speed.
- Async. Set your website’s script to load asynchronously, this ensures your website pages can load content faster and all at once.
- CDN, everything. Seriously consider Content Delivery Networks, especially if you have a worldwide client base or trade online.
- Remove plugins you don't need. Think about what you really use and what benefits your website’s experience for users.

SEO vs. SEM vs. PPC? What's the difference?
SEO vs. SEM vs. PPC. You know they're important, but you're not exactly sure what they are and how they apply to your business?
Overview.
If you’ve been online for a bit, you’ve probably seen these acronyms over and over again. You might even have a vague understanding of what each of them means.
SEO – Search engine optimization
SEM – Search engine marketing
PPC – Pay per click
Are SEO, SEM, and PPC The Same Thing?
Like every industry, digital marketing has its share of acronyms. SEO, SEM, and PPC tend to be the highest on the list.
If you’ve been online for a bit, you’ve probably seen these acronyms over and over again. You might even have a vague understanding of what each of them means.
SEO – search engine optimization
SEM – search engine marketing
PPC – pay per click
All are meant to help you get your message out online. And all do a good job of bringing business through your doors – if they are utilized in the correct manner.
The problem is in the interpretation. Even people who have been in the business for years use these terms in different ways.
Results are everything. But if you think you’re hiring a company to do one thing, and they do something else because you aren’t speaking the right language, that’s where challenges arise.
If you’re building your business using digital marketing methods, having a general understanding of the language will help you build the marketing plan you truly desire. To do that, let’s start with the three most talked about acronyms in digital marketing: SEO, SEM, and PPC.
SEM VS SEO
SEM
In a logical sense, it seems as if SEM would be at the top of the food chain. Search engine marketing appears to be a global concept, one that would refer to how you market your business online.
That’s incorrect.
Instead, SEM refers to all paid digital marketing. That would make PPC a part of SEM, but not the other way around. Both SEM and PPC are:
Paid programs
Controlled by setting up a budget
Are the primary moneymakers for a lot of platforms online
While PPC is considered to be the largest and most in-demand way of advertising online, it isn’t the only way.
SEO
How do those differ from SEO? Search engine optimization is the process of getting into the search engines organically instead of through a paid platform. The process involves creating sites and pages with enough high-quality content on them that Google ranks them well on their own merits.
SEO is content-driven. By far, the best way to utilize SEO is to create high-quality content that shares good information with your viewers, and is worded in such a way as to attract attention in the search engines. This includes both the content humans read on the page, as well as the coded language developers use to create the page.
Which do you need most?
Paid advertising versus organic marketing is one of the most widely debated topics in the digital marketing industry. Is one better than the other? Should you put all your resources on one?
You need both!
That may seem like a digital marketers’ way to expand your marketing plan and make you increase the amount you spend. Let’s examine why the two work together and how they are indispensable to any business trying to grow their sales.
Digital Marketing Work
SEM AND SEO WORK SEPARATELY AND TOGETHER
Paid search and organic marketing are two different ways to reach out to your target audience. One isn’t better than the other. They both have their strengths and weaknesses.
Digital Marketing CTA reading "Find out how DMG can help your business today!" with "Lets Start" button
Paid search is good at driving specific traffic to a landing page on your site, and can do so with some of the best demographics in marketing. But paid search is “pay to play,” meaning if you turn it off, the traffic goes away.
SEM is designed to reach out to people that aren’t familiar with your brand. Your ads are where they are. They entice them to click. They provide just enough information to lead them to the next stop on the road to becoming a paid customer or client.
Google is set up to give the most coveted space in search engine rank to players that pay for the space.
At best, your organic listing will display further down the page.
That alone is a great reason to pay – you can ensure your message is the very first message a searcher sees.
Now let’s change the scenario a bit. Let’s say a searcher is aware of your brand and is out searching and comparing.
They type in a keyword that leads them to a page with your PPC ad at the top of the results. They’re familiar with you, so they continue glancing down the page.
With organic search results, you can appear again and again. And again!
And when a searcher notices it’s your site all over that first page of results, they start assuming you must be the key player with what they’re searching for.
SEO and SEM work well separately, but together, they can be an unstoppable plan for you to bring in sales and grow your business.
SEO AND SEM ARE TWO SIDES OF THE MARKETING COIN
For some, they assume they can throw money at one side, and eventually stop it because the other is working well. For example, if you pay for ads while you build organically, eventually you can stop paid advertising and drive all your business through organic.
The trouble is, the two types of advertising attract wildly different customers and clients.
If someone has never heard of you before, but is searching for what you offer, SEM is the way to get your name into their psyche and start building a relationship with them.
As people start to recognize your authority in your field, SEO is the perfect way to be where they are searching. It can quickly show you know what you’re talking about by being in every relatable search term a searcher types in.
THINK FULL CIRCLE
Depending on what digital marketing firm you talk to, you might be pushed towards investing in one form of marketing over another.
An SEO firm will sell you on the importance of organic placement. They can show statistics that back up the claim it’s more important to be placed organically throughout every key term people search to find you. And they’d be right.
An SEM firm will sell you on the importance of using PPC ads to reach out to people trying to find you. It’s the perfect way to be where potential clients are. They also will be able to show you statistics on how their clients build strong businesses by delivering messages searchers want and need. They’d also be right.
Smart businesses understand the power of working SEO and SEM together.
You have all kinds of customers and clients at various stages of working with you.
It’s important to deliver the right message at the right time. To build your expertise up online and deliver it in a way that makes sense to who’s looking.
Can you say that about your digital marketing strategy?

Covid-19 safety and business continuity
As we confront the ongoing challenges presented by the Covid-19 crisis, we would like to share direct and candid communication about our response to this unfolding global public health and economic emergency.
We are well-positioned, well-resourced and thoroughly committed to focusing on the safety of our employees and associates, and ensuring business continuity for our current and future clients.
🚨 Important.
Here's what you should know:
- The safety and wellbeing of our employees as well as customers are paramount to us. We have and we will implement strict measures as recommended by MOH.
- We are vigilant about taking all the necessary hygiene and social distancing precautions.
- Our offices are open only for very specific business tasks. As of March 18, 2020, all employees are working remotely. We’re used to this. Almost all of us work on laptops and keep incredibly portable work setups. We are providing any and all resources our team needs to be as productive as they are in the office.
- We do not foresee any disruption in services. We have been doing most of our work electronically, virtually and remotely. Therefore, we are truly fortunate that our transition to doing even more of this is relatively seamless.
- We are avoiding nearly all business travel and limiting non-essential meetings in favor of teleconferencing and videoconferencing.
- We are in close contact with our website hosting providers and eCommerce partners, and are well-aligned with them to assure continuity in service on the electronic side.
- We are immediately available to answer any questions you may have. You can contact your project manager or use the contact form provided on this page.
You should also know that we are fully up to the challenge. Across our company, we are united in delivering a productive “business as usual” outlook and outcomes during these highly unusual times. This includes flexibility and creativity in working with you to adjust marketing and creative services strategies as we all respond to the ongoing economic challenges.
Moving forward.
We will closely monitor the current situation and provide further updates if there are any developments on this matter.
We apologize for any inconveniences that may arise from this preventive measures. However, the safety and wellbeing of our employees as well as customers are paramount to us. We truly appreciate your ongoing support and understanding during this unprecedented time. Thank you for your continuous support.
Thank you!
— Team Scellus
